Fix Google Chrome Pink Screen

After updating to the latest version of Google Chrome, 32.0.1700.76 in my case, my Chrome browser windows all looked pink. Here is how to get the browser back to normal.

As seen above Chrome has a pink / red hue to it and rebooting and clearing cache fixes nothing. As with several problems with Google this one is also related to nVidia defaulting to 3D stereoscopic mode to on after every driver update. Disable 3D in the nVidia control panel as seen here.

This must be done after each nVidia update. Once this is done restart (or start) Chrome and all will be well.

so what happens when you don’t have the stereoscopic options available on your nvidia control panel and you still have a pink hue screen. What do you do then?

Try changing the application specific 3D settings. In the nVidia control panel click on 3D Settings then, Manage 3D Settings. Then select Program Settings and in the drop down choose Chrome.

I’m not sure which one might do the trick since I can’t produce it with my current setup but I suspect one of them will.

I eventually found the “select a task” but there was no ‘stereoscopic 3D’ only ‘3D Settings’, ‘Display’ and ‘Video’… my chrome window is still ‘pink’… and I am not sure how to get back to the “select a task” again.
Please help – anybody.

nice! short and tidy, working 100% – great help! thank you! I woke up today after some party and I see pink…good that’s not me but Nvidia 🙂

but i am using nvidia stereoscopic 3d.
how is this a fix?
i need a fix for a working chrome and stereoscopic 3d enabled!

Pls help?

For those of you who use Nvidia 3D, just press Ctrl+T while in Chrome. That’s the same way you turn 3D on or off in a game. Once I realized it was a 3D problem, the solution was easy. Thank you all for your help.

It’s a bug between nVidia and Chrome. This is the only workaround I could find. If you want you can file a bug with both vendors.

Thanks so much! This information was simple and effective.

I was so entirely confused when I initially saw the red tint. But part way through reading this I remembered I just disconnected my Nvidia Vision 2 and moved my computer not but 5 minutes prior.

Thanks again, I hope anyone else who has this problem is easily able to locate this page for assistance.

Not everyone has installed the 3D steroscopic driver. I’m working on a machine with a GT 520 that has the pink chrome, but no steroscopic 3D, (331.65)

For those of you that don’t have the stereoscopic 3D option on your nVidia control panel:

Run Services.msc from the start screen and/or run menu.
*(From start screen type Run + Enter // services.msc + Enter)*
Scroll down to nVidia Stereoscopic 3D driver and right click/ Stop
You should also stop it from running at startup – Right click / Startup options / Disable

Woke up and found this pink chrome on my qosmio. just press the 3D button and it became white again

Can someone tell me how to get to these settings / how to fix this pink screen on a new GS7. Can’t find any of the menus / options listed above. Thanks.

This has to do with an nVidia driver problem in Windows so it’s not going to help on a Galaxy S7. If your screen on a new phone is bad then you should return it for a new one.

But it’s only when I access Chrome and it starts out fine then slowly turns pink. Sure sounds similar. All other applications on the phone are fine. We’ll, okay thanks. I’ll keep looking.

I have a fairly new Dell monitor with NVidia. I went to Dell Display Manager and changed the settings for Google from “multimedia” to “standard”. Now I have no more pink screen, just pure white.

Correction: I changed the settings in Dell Display Manager for Internet Explorer from “multimedia” to “standard”

if you have AMD like me and not nVidia…
click start
type AMD in search box
open AMD catalyst control centre
open preferences in the top right
click restore factory settings

Worked for me hope it helps

This happened to me today on a Toshiba laptop with integrated intel graphics (no nVidia). I disabled the 3D thing and the problem is fixed. Thanks.

I had the same problem on a new pc and found an easy solution for me. Right click on a blank desktop area and choose “display settings” Then turn off the night light option. Worked for me.
